This one-day course is a mix of theory and practice. It will consider the importance of group education, acknowledging the approach's pros and cons and providing a step-by-step guide to preparing a group education session.

Participants will think about groups from a service user perspective, consider how people learn, and explore the skills required to facilitate learning. The course will also cover strategies to manage some of the challenges faced when working with groups.

Several activities will be featured, to encourage thinking about planning, carrying out, and evaluating group education sessions. Activities include whole group discussions, small group work, and some individual reflection. Participants will leave the course having considered group education already involved in and how to build upon facilitation skills.
